Why Give?

The work of the Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) advances the study of human nutrition by enhancing our understanding of why individuals vary in their requirements for specific nutrients.  This work affects all of us; the research has the capacity to make breakthrough discoveries explaining the role of diet and activity in the areas of normal brain development, the prevention of cancer, and the prevention and treatment of obesity, consequently improving the quality of life for all human beings.

The NRI is dependent on the support of people like you to continue this critical research.  First and foremost, we need to attract top researchers from around the world to work at the NRI – our research will only be as good as the people conducting it.  Limited state funding is not enough – we need to share the very best that Kannapolis has to offer for researchers and their families in order to convince them that Kannapolis is the place for them to build their future.  The Excellence Fund will enable families to join candidates for a distinctive experience that showcases our community and compels them to join our team.

Monies that allow scientists to explore innovative theories are scarce; our “Freedom to Discover Fund” will provide the seed money for researchers to pursue these theories and make the ground-breaking discoveries that will change our lives.  We also need funding to support post-doctoral fellowships, visits from eminent scholars, and travel to scientific conferences where we will present our revolutionary findings.  One of the most valuable gifts you can make to the NRI is a gift to the Annual Fund.  These resources will be directed to the area of greatest need at the Institute.

Make your gift today and join us in making the NRI the premiere nutrition research center in the world!

For online giving, remember to identify the School of Public Health as the University Designation and the Kannapolis Nutrition Research Institute as the University Fund.
