Annual Fund
One of the most valuable gifts you can make to the NRI is a gift to the Annual Fund. Gifts to the Annual Fund enable the Director of the NRI to target resources to the area of greatest need and the Institute is committed to using them judiciously to facilitate ground-breaking research and maintain an environment for learning.

Major Gifts
Major gifts are vitally important to the future of the NRI. Donors who make a significant commitment to the NRI become a critical part of our team and create far-reaching benefits. Donors may use their gift to create an endowment, underwrite equipment and facility improvements or advance critical research objectives. Naming opportunities are available to donors who create an endowed fund or provide substantial support for a program or facility. Donors making significant gifts will also be recognized as members of the Appetite for Life Society.

Endowed Funds
Create a lasting legacy by establishing or contributing to an endowed fund. The income from the endowment will provide ongoing support to the program or area specified by the donor. Endowed funds can be unrestricted or designated for a wide range of purposes including professorships, undergraduate and post-doctoral fellowships, research, programs, and building maintenance. Endowments may be named for the donor and/or to honor or memorialize an individual selected by the donor.

Naming Opportunities
As we move into the new building, the timing is perfect to consider making a substantial gift to the NRI. In recognition of this gift, a suite, a laboratory, a conference room, the café or even our kitchen may be named in your honor or in memory of a loved one.

Appetite for Life Society
The NRI honors those exceptional donors who have made commitments of $1,000 or more with membership in the Appetite for Life Society.

Director’s Circle $25,000 and up
Visionaries for Research $10,000 -- $24,999
Institute Benefactors $5,000 -- $9,999
Partners for Health $2,500 -- $4,999
Friends of Nutrition $1,000 -- $2,499

Excellence Fund
First and foremost, we need to attract top researchers from around the world to work at the NRI – our research will only be as good as the people conducting it. Limited state funding is not enough – we need the resources that will enable us to bring researchers and their families to the area and convince them that the NRI is the place for them to build their future. Once on board, your gift to the Excellence Fund may also provide start-up packages for new researchers and faculty members.

Freedom to Discover Fund
The NRI is committed to transforming nutrition research worldwide. In order to make revolutionary discoveries, our scientists must have the freedom to explore revolutionary theories. Our Freedom to Discover Fund will provide the invaluable seed money for researchers to pursue those innovative ideas that will lead to ground-breaking discoveries in the field of nutrition that will change our lives.

Great Minds Fund
Through the Great Minds Fund we will bring famous scientists to our campus for a four month research collaboration that will provide these scientists with the opportunity to use the many resources available at the NRI, and at the same time will showcase our science, our facilities and our community and make it easier to recruit them permanently
