UNPAID STUDENT INTERNSHIP-METABOLOMICS
NUTRITION RESEARCH INSTITUTE
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL
An unpaid student internship is available in the area of metabolomics. The emerging area of metabolomics describes the simultaneous detection and quantitative measurement of a large number of metabolites in biological samples such as normal and pathological tissue and bio-fluids. Analysis of multiple metabolites, which are the end products of a multitude of genomic and proteomic functions, promise immense applications in early diagnosis, prognosis, nutritional assessment, drug discovery, and molecular level understanding of metabolic pathways associated with many diseases. This intern will have opportunities to generate metabolomics data and use it to understand the effect of nutrition to human metabolism.
Graduate level students preferred. Senior-level undergraduates will also be considered.
Interested candidates should email letter of interest and resume (if any) to Shucha Zhang, PhD, at shucha_zhang@unc.edu. For questions, call (704) 250-5037.
