Note: This position is located in Kannapolis, NC (2 hours from Chapel Hill).

The Human Research Core at the Nutrition Research Institute has a part-time temporary medical lab technician position available. This position will be responsible for drawing blood from human research subjects, as well as other general clinical skills such as checking vital signs and processing blood samples via centrifuge to go to the lab for testing.

This position may also serve as a monitor observing human study subjects in the Institute’s metabolic chamber from an observation room and/or webcam to ensure compliance with study protocol. The position is responsible for monitoring equipment associated with the chamber analysis and recording data. Monitors must follow strict schedules per study protocol, communicating instructions to study participants at given times. Monitors are responsible for heating and serving specially designed metabolic meals to research subject according to the study protocol. Training in food preparation safety will be provided if necessary.

– Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
– Phlebotomy training required.
– Basic word processing and phone skills.

– Demonstrated ability to monitor instrumentation and record readings.
